Water Harvesting Models
Yesterday i was having a chat with Gnana on how chennai will fast become the IT or BPO hub in india, but his one question struck firmly hit..."Where do you go for water for all these people?" True. trillion $$$$ question with the govt & people struggling to find an answer for. Every one of us is heard of the infamouse Sunita Narain of CSE (yeah the same lady who said increase in toxic contents in Pepsi & Coke).
CSE - Center for Science & Environment runs a weekly newsletter and actively participate in larger community based initiatives in various areas including Water harvesting. As you aware, cities are densely populated and the methods we use in the rural side, may not fit the urban landscape. We need to look at different harvesting models, other than just putting a PVC pipe on our roof to wait for the rain to come.
Their website on water harvesting gives you an ideal platform to start with. With their commitment & scientifically proven techniques & methods, CSE is building some of the best urban models of water harvesting in India. If someone know any govt. departments in TN for water preservation & usage, can redirect this link to them for proper perspective.
In reply to the post of "Ready to strip" by gnana, he was outlining the misuse of women rights. Well striping is never the right of both women & men. You strip, do whatever in your bedroom or inside your house. No one questions you and you got all the world's freedom do so. The issue here, i m trying put in perspective is not the women rights. But how vulnerable our "educated women" are for stardom.
On a side note, adding to that, for one of the hindi films called "Musafir" an Event management company is doing a "Item Bomb" show across india to select the model & to act in the movie. An Item No. is becoming a mandatory option for hindi movies, for those who are uninitiated, an item no. is nothing but, what silk smitha, disco shanthi, jayamalini did with their movies in early 80s. The difference now is, better lighting, great control on camera angles, and lesser skinner cloths, may be 15% (like an ad. agency commission:-)) of costumes covering the bare essentials.
This reminds me the famouse sidhuism dialogue "Statistics are like bikinies. The hide what they need to reveal always." We are going to see more statistics in the days to come. Preserve your inner rain for that to pour.
