ஆயுள் வரைக்கும் வருமா ஆயில்!

In my on going series on how "Power" is becoming the key currency in the global economy, i would like to take a turn and add 'Energy' is considered an important asset to be seen as more "Powerful". What's happening across the globe is interesting. In one of my tamil blog post, i have quoted Noam Chomsky's article on how the latin american farmers are hungry, while they grow the largest corn farming in the world. Since with the obession of West, particularly of US to gain more energy reserve, they are looking at alternative fuels, while depleting the latin american farm lands for cultivating more corn crop. To understand the energy politics better go and watch Syriana, a brilliant film on how America, Middle East and Europe is fighting over the mid. eastern oil belts for their own energy requirements. It doesn't end there. The world is split wide open in multiple directions. Lets start from US. US is hungry for oil and other sources of energy. We have witnessed countelssly from their 'help' to Quwait, invasion of Iraq, threatening calls to Iran. From 1938, when they found the oil rich reserves in Saudi Arabia, US never contempts anything in Saudi. In fact the present President's family and Saudi Amir are business partners in their oil exploration & distribution company headed by Senior Bush's second son. Dick Cheney, the erst while minister was employed as a CEO in a Oil company before he took over the minsteral post. The west particualarly US is playing fool worldwide in terms of oil aggregation and for that they do everything. The arabs long time favouries of oil. The entire arab world is filthy rich with their oil fields and reserves. Countries like Saudi, Iran, Iraq, Quwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, and some parts of UAE, Syria are all oil rich nations. Their economy is purely based on oil power. While countries like Oman, Saudi are US allies, Iraq, Iran and Syria are on the other side of the table for US. Their economy is fully driven by oil and unlike countries like Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi where there are no oil, and they turned into marketing destinations for world products, these countries get everything with their "crude oil" as currency. Although offlate, the Islamic extremism and fundamentalism is routed strongly over here over West, still the west can't live without middle east.
<br\>Counter attacking US is the Venzulian president Hugo Chavez's huge oil reserves with which he is increasing his treasury registry ticking. Venezulla is not alone. With the new found optimism in modern Russia, where Putin directly attacks white house with their huge oil reserves. Chavez & Putin forms the second wing, with the association to China by supplying oil to them. While China, as a liberalised communist country gets support from similar philosophy country, and the backstap is India. When the cold war was in the 60s - 80s, India with their Nehruvian doctrine was supporting USSR and rest is history with USSR split into countries. The emergence of modern Russia is a case in point, with the most number of oil fields under their control right now and their treasury is a healthier $300 Billion dollar reserve, twice bigger than Indian reserve today. Every decision in today's geo politics is based upon the energy battle.
<br\><br\>India is not left alone in this race for energy security. We are in Ajabekisthan, supplying arms and ammunitions to infliterate Pakistan border and paying huge money in Sudan and other african belt via ONGC's international arm. My earlier post about Ambani brothers' and their oil field control can be taken as a case in point. While we like every nation wanted to be a Supreme Power and trying to endorse alternative energy, we are in the middle of dilemma now. With the Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline in question, and the diplomatic ties with White house on the other side, its a tricky situation for us to handle, while China is galloping their hungriness towards oil by signing contracts with Russia & Venezula and Africa.
<br\><br\>With the world going towards more exploration and depleting natural resources like Oil, its time to question or rather rethink about our own oil consumption. Think about it, India's 33% of reserves goes to importing of Oil from outside. Its because we are like hungry monkers even take our bike or car for the next street shop. We as citizens, are not stressing the point for alternative energy sources. As a country we need to invest in these infrastructure to make our next generation live safer. We are a sunny country, and yet less than .5% of power being generated from Sun. We have a long coastal belt, yet only 2-5% of our power is being generated via hydro mechanism. i am definitely not against nuclear power, while we are at it, we have cheaper alternatives available. Think about it, the country's energy security is not a "new delhi' problem, its a problem for you and me and over next generation.
",1]
