Pak's a Wal-Mart for WMD,
After writing the yesterday's Pak. controversy for Cricket, the morning newyork times gives more meaningful answer to my point.
Extract of the report is:
"NEW YORK: Pakistan, whose disgraced scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan operated a global nuclear-weapons ‘black market’ that extended from Switzerland to Japan and Dubai, is probably the world's most dangerous breeding ground for both weapons of mass destruction and terror, US news magazine Newsweek has reported.
Mr Khan, who was pardoned by President Pervez Musharraf, benefited from the delicate politics of the war on terror, the magazine said adding that his role in destabilising the 21st century could be compared with Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler's impact on the last century. Pakistan, not Iraq, is probably the world's most dangerous breeding ground for both WMD and terror. Pakistan is also a key US ally, the report said. In over 30 years, Mr Khan put together what Mohammed ElBaradei, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, called “a veritable Wal-Mart” for nuclear-weapons buyers, the report said.
It was the IAEA, not the Bush administration, that first put pressure on Pakistan to force Mr Khan to reveal his central role in the network, it said."
IAEA is world's premier organisation in atom utilisations for peace. "The IAEA is the world's center of cooperation in the nuclear field. It was set up as the world's "Atoms for Peace" organization in 1957 within the United Nations family. The Agency works with its Member States and multiple partners worldwide to promote safe, secure and peaceful nuclear technologies."
More on that reportPak's a Wal-Mart for WMD, and we stupidly considering sending our players to Pak.
In India, who is the most stressed man, asked the ? the Times of India sometime back. It is not Vajpayee, It is not Sonia, It is not Kalam, It is not Jaya, It is sourav ganguly. This man shoulders the responsibility of satsifying 100 million people, carries a more risk than anyone else above mentioned. I am not disgracing the political viewpoint of joining hands, but my ? is when the place is not sure of its safety, why we gotta risk our idols? Irrespective of this country is shining or not, our people are comfortable with watching cricket matches and their idols, why risk them.
