The Kanchi Sankaracharya was arrested 3-4 days ago. The entire media business has seen roaring business happens. This arrest raises a few fundamental questions in this country.
Do we follow the British/American mentality of "Church above the State" in India too?
Going thru the history, religion & caste/creed based supremacy has caused more damage than terriorism. Take the medival Christian wars & Adolf Hitlor's second world war. Religion is a pathway. It is a discipline thru which humans can lead a better life. The purpose of religion is to guide people in the right direction. Unfortunately, no religion, except for few disciplines like Buddism, actually does that.
The Hindu religion, as the precourse, is not at all a religion. It is a philosophy by its nature. It is in Hindu only, you have people, who denied the existance of God. There are people, scholars, who praised mankind before God. The sacred Quer-ran also tells the same.
Look around what's happening. The arabs hits US from an Islamic fundamentalist view. The US, the criminal of all, hits all the underdeveloped countries & the Africas thru their Missionary & Military activies. Here in India, the so called "hindus" demolish a Mosque & hunting other religions like their prey. In a situation like this, where comes religious supremacy ?
Coming to this arrest, First of all, Jayandrasaraswathi is not a Seer by his sheer activities. No Religious head in this country has so closer connections with the central government and lays plans for peace talks. Back in 80s, the same gentleman, has vanished & returned back to Kanchi matt, for reasons unknown till date.
This gentleman, has the highest record of having power network than any other religious leader in this country. Just take a look at the people, who sat on the court bench on his trial, former Highcourt Judges, Secretaries, IAS & IPS officers, CEOs of various companies. Clear evidance of how powerfully networked this gentleman is.
I am not getting into the debate of whether he has paid money to Kill Mr. Sankararaman or not. My point, there is a huge despair & cry for his arrest, which is absolutely illogical.
Just take a look at the bare real facts. Madurai Aathinam files a case against "Illaya Aathinam" for murder attempt. Two "swamigal" in Triplicane has been arrested for sexual harassment & threatening. The great "Premananda" syndrome. Though forgotton from the public memory, take the cases like, John Joseph, Aslam Baba and ofcourse the master of all, puttaparthi Sai Baba (There are more rumours of murders happened inside Whitefield). Time & again, it is proved that there can't be a good godman to attain spiritual etnerity.
All these so called "sadhus" are coming in Benz cars, goes on private jets, accomadations with the finest places and running trusts which has billions of indian rupees as funds.
Sadhus they say lead a very simple life. They preach good thing to the people. They seldom speak. This gentleman is a media crazy individual. Any Hindu festival, be it Pongal, Deepavali, New year, you can see his face in all the TV channels and all the special editions of various newspapers. Sadhus were suppose to treat everyone equally. There are special permission & visits to him from the "power class" of our society.
Having said that all, my worry is not even this arrest. Anyway, this gentleman will come out hands-clean, because of power brokering. My biggest worry is, after getting defeated in the National elections & the recent Maharastra elections, the Shiv Sena, VHP, RSS & BJP were about to relook at their "hindutva" idealogy. This incident recreated the union now. Post Babri masjith issue, there were hardly few issues for RSS to defend. With this arrest, they found a new carrot to tangle to the public. With the mass appeal & media hype, we are well back to 1991 again.
Let's believe there are slimest chances where the law will take its own action.
