How to choose a girl for marriage

This is a message passing as mail and one of my friend tapped the same in his blogger...since many of our members are in the marriage stage i am posting the same here...

If you are really busy and don't have time to read the article read the "How to approach the selection process? " onwards...

There are times in a persons life when he needs to take crucial decisions on his own. Marriage is one of them. Believe me, the decision on whom to marry is the most important decision a person will make in his life. After marriage, your wife is the most important person in your life. She can make or break your life. The mere thought of this is very frightening.

Some of the questions that crop up are
1· What sort of a girl do I marry?
2· Will she adjust in my family?
3· How can I decide on a girl by just meeting her for a
few times?
4· When should I get married?
5· This is my life. So, I should choose the girl I marry, but then what if I make a mistake?

I will try to address these & many more questions in the following sections.
The Ten Rules of Arranged marriage

Rule 1 --- Magic no. 28
In an ideal scenario, a girl goes to college at the age of 18. By the time she graduates, goes for her post graduation and/ or works for 1-2 years, she will be about 23- 24. This means that
she has spent about 5 years away from her home. In the 5 years period, she would meet many smart guys at college or during her first few years on job. So, in all probability it would be
difficult to find a good girl older than 24 yrs. Secondly, in Indian families there is lot of pressure on the girls to get married by the time they become 24-25. Statistics says that there is a generation gap after every 5 years. So, in such scenario, one would prefer to marry a girl who
is about 3-4 years younger to you. Thus, working backwards, an ideal age for a guy to get married is by 28. Earlier the marriage, the better it is. Well, as we all know, in the current market scenario, there will never be stability in our career. So, I believe there is no such
thing as, I will marry when I settle down.

Rule 2 -- Subset of marriage-able girls
At times you hear statements like, I am not getting the right match, I will look after 3 months, I will find a better match thenâ€. Well the truth is otherwise. The subset of unmarried
girl looking for a match is fixed. From this subset, there would be girls who would get married & there would be new girls added who would be looking for a match. The net result is that at any
given time, the variety & number of marriage-able girls are fixed.

Rule 3-- Competition for girls
Like all other facets of life, there is lot of competition for good girls. In my own case, I was rejected by girls. So, if you are looking for a girl who is post graduate, done her Engg, is
working, very beautiful, smart, from a good family etc. etc, just think again. There are other guys who are also looking for similar girls & probably they are better off than you in terms of
career, looks personality etc. Given a choice every guy would like to marry Aishwarya Rai, but then for all Aishwaryas in the world, there are many Salman Khans who also want to marry them. So, set your expectations accordingly.

Rule 4 -- Understanding girls
You would have met a lot of people during your life. As we all know, its difficult to judge a person based on a few meetings. I am sure you would agree with me that in case of girls it is even
more difficult to understand them in a few meetings. Understanding your spouse is a life long assignment. So, then how do you select a girl based on a few meeting? This is where you
need to take the help of your parents/ friends & latest technologies like email/ chat to choose your girl.

Rule 5-- Society expectation
The selection process is tough on every one who is involved in the process. In arranged marriage, involvement of family & society is pretty high. You can meet a girl 3-4 times & then say no to her. It is bad for her future. So, you should have a good short-listing criterion. Meet only a few girls & be sure what you are looking for. It is for the benefit of everyone involved.

Rule 6-- Marriage between equals
Unlike love marriage, in arranged marriage you also marry into the girls family. In arranged marriages, family support plays a major role in ensuring a successful marriage. This is where the compatibility of social status, family values & caste/ religion plays a major role. Its important to note that in case there is a perfect match between the two families, the marriage is destined
to succeed.

Rule 7-- Know yourself
Unlike love marriage, in arranged marriage you first marry a person & then fall in love. So, its very important that you do a self-assessment on the kind of person you would love. They say,
Opposite attract, while they also say, Bird of same feather flock together. So, you take a call on what sort of person you like. Take a pen & paper; write down the kind of attributes you are
looking for in a girl. Say, she should ideally have the looks of Sonia, the style of Monica, the voice of Sheena, the patience of Rashmi. You will certainly not find the perfect girl, but then
you would have a good idea of what you are looking for. The secret here is to set some minimum criteria for selection. Dont forget rule no.3 here.

Rule 8-- Girls Beauty
A girls looks attract, but then no one wants to end up marrying a dumb blonde. It is like buying your bike. When you initially buy it, you are crazy about the looks, but later on you love it for
its reliability, fuel economy & comfort level. Similarly, a girls looks are important, but then it should not be the most important criteria. Later on it life, you will get bored of her looks. It
is then that her personality & behavior will make all the difference to your marriage. I am sure your parents will be able to advice you a lot better on this topic.

Rule 9 -- Taking advice
As I have mentioned in the next rule, its very important that the final decision on whom to marry must necessarily be yours. However, dont do the mistake of isolating yourself from the world while planning your marriage. Discuss with your parents & very close friends on this issue. They are your well wishers. Secondly, in such important matters its necessary that you analyze all possibilities. Remember, I am not suggesting that you follow others advice, but dont forget to take their advice.

Rule 10 -- Own decision
All said & done, its your marriage & your life that is at stake. Once you are married, you & your wife are the only persons who will be facing the music. Dont marry a girl just because your
parents or friends asked you to do so. After marriage, if things dont work out & you end up saying, Its because of my friends or my parents that I married you, then your marriage is destined for disaster. If the girl is of your choice, it is you who will be responsible for whatever happens. Thats when the marriage works out perfectly. So, ensure that you marriage the girl of your choice.

How to approach the selection process?
From the day, a person decides to get married; the selection process takes a minimum of 3 months. The whole process needs a lot of patience & commitment. The ideal steps to be followed are:
Definition phase -- Define the minimum criteria for the kind of life partner you are looking for in terms of education, physical appearance, social status, family values, future career plans.
Remember the Rule 3 here.
Lead Generation phase -- Place ads in various newspapers, magazines, websites, through friends, family friends, family societies & association etc. You need to exhaust all possible
means of getting biodatas at one go. Remember the Rule 2 here.
Short listing phase-- Based on your selection criteria, short-list the interesting biodatas. The general process followed for correspondence is as follows:
1 The initiator sends a one page profile of himself/ herself
2 Based on the profile, the receiver sends his/her one page profile along with request for detailed profile, photo, horoscope3
3 The initiator then sends the requested information along with a request for similar information
4 The receiver send similar information
5 If the biodata is selected, it is passed over to the next phase
Casual interaction phase
Based on shortlisting, about 7 to 10 biodatas are taken forwarded to this phase. The next step to follow here is to exchange email/ chat ids. The guy & the girl then interact for 10 to 15 days to try & judge mutual compatibility through email/ chat. Family interaction phase Based on the earlier phase, about 5 leads are taken for consideration in this phase. During this phase, the parents get involved & check the background information about the families to find mutual compatibility.
The dating phase
Based on the earlier phase about 3 leads are taken forward to this phase. During this phase, the guy & the girl interact by going out alone for 2-3 times. The guy needs to prepare a set of
simple questions like who is your favorite star, what are your hobbies? He needs to use his judgment to analyze the girl based on her responses.
The D-day phase
Finally, the D-day comes when the guy has to select the girl he wants to spend his life with. If the process if followed systematically, there will be no ambiguity in deciding who should
be your life partner.

Finally, my dear friends, marriage is all about compromises. In
spite of all the planning that you do, there are a lot of
uncertainties in a marriage. In fact this is the best part about
marriage. Just remember that the person you marry must be of your
choice. In such case, there would be no going back for both of
you.

who said Dr. Manmohan Singh is soft

With the continuous information of department secretaries & PSU heads..the PM has sent a letter to all the ministers, cabinet colleagues & MPs to urge them not interfere in the functioning of the activities for political advantages.

Dear Minister,

As you would readily appreciate the proper and efficient functioning of the public sector enterprises is critical to fulfilment of many commitments of the National Common Minimum Programme which aims at the overall growth of economy.

Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that guidelines and policies evolved by the Union government with respect to the structure, composition, selection, appointment and service conditions of the board of directors and senior management personnel are strictly followed.

There are standing instructions and guidelines on these matters and have been approved by the Appointments committee of the Union Cabinet and Department of Personnel and Training from time to time.

While requesting you to ensure that there are no deviations from these guidelines and standing instructions, I am directing the Cabinet Secretary to closely monitor the compliance.

Needless to stress that delays and deviations are detrimental to the efficient functioning of public sector undertakings.

Dr Manmohan Singh
Prime Minister

To me, this letter doesn't make any great change in the way people behave, but what is interesting to see is that, finally, i am sitting in the south cornor of this country is able to read what the PM has sent to his colleagues. Atleast, to that level, transparency is increased in last few years.

Vaazhga Gananayagam!!!!!

Prepaid Vs Postpaid

The answer lies in your question...if we are good in maintaing monthly commitment it means we don't require debts and hence post paid. The problem of post paid is the bill systems has not matured enough and hence all sorts of headache's. Moreover we are little content people, we live with what we have at the moment(most of them), we don't spend based on future earnings without calculation(atleast me).

So pre paid is better, you pay the money which you can afford ATM and use it efficiently rather than biting the nail at the end of the month..

Well i am in post paid (its altogether a different story) ;)

Water Harvesting Models

Yesterday i was having a chat with Gnana on how chennai will fast become the IT or BPO hub in india, but his one question struck firmly hit..."Where do you go for water for all these people?" True. trillion $$$$ question with the govt & people struggling to find an answer for. Every one of us is heard of the infamouse Sunita Narain of CSE (yeah the same lady who said increase in toxic contents in Pepsi & Coke).

CSE - Center for Science & Environment runs a weekly newsletter and actively participate in larger community based initiatives in various areas including Water harvesting. As you aware, cities are densely populated and the methods we use in the rural side, may not fit the urban landscape. We need to look at different harvesting models, other than just putting a PVC pipe on our roof to wait for the rain to come.

Their website on water harvesting gives you an ideal platform to start with. With their commitment & scientifically proven techniques & methods, CSE is building some of the best urban models of water harvesting in India. If someone know any govt. departments in TN for water preservation & usage, can redirect this link to them for proper perspective.

In reply to the post of "Ready to strip" by gnana, he was outlining the misuse of women rights. Well striping is never the right of both women & men. You strip, do whatever in your bedroom or inside your house. No one questions you and you got all the world's freedom do so. The issue here, i m trying put in perspective is not the women rights. But how vulnerable our "educated women" are for stardom.

On a side note, adding to that, for one of the hindi films called "Musafir" an Event management company is doing a "Item Bomb" show across india to select the model & to act in the movie. An Item No. is becoming a mandatory option for hindi movies, for those who are uninitiated, an item no. is nothing but, what silk smitha, disco shanthi, jayamalini did with their movies in early 80s. The difference now is, better lighting, great control on camera angles, and lesser skinner cloths, may be 15% (like an ad. agency commission:-)) of costumes covering the bare essentials.

This reminds me the famouse sidhuism dialogue "Statistics are like bikinies. The hide what they need to reveal always." We are going to see more statistics in the days to come. Preserve your inner rain for that to pour.

Job Switch in IT

The last para is the clincher.
ead only when you've time. good article by an MBT employee.
Job hopping. This is one phenomenon you frequently see in IT
Industry. Also this is something I never really understood even after 3
½ years in the software industry....

And it is a far cry from the Government service days of old when one
struggled to get a job when fresh out of college, but once employed
worked on there till retirement.. In those days no one ever thought
Of changing jobs. Perhaps nobody thought of career or work/monetary
satisfaction that much then... job stability was more important.

In IT industry, it is a different ball game altogether...
here people are supposed to switch else they would stagnate.. and it seems
like a rule of thumb that no one sticks around in a single company for too
long... and if he does then people think that is bcoz he is not good enough to get
recruited anywhere..

Somehow when a person X switches from company A to company
B, he gets a 40% hike (atleast)...and also goes one step up in the hierarchy.
Similarly when a person Y switches from company B to company A... he
also gets a similar hike and promotion...

Then why are they switching in the first place.. ? If X is
so good that company B is ready to pay him a higher wage... and company A is also
willing to pay that amount to hire Y from company B.. then
why do the companies not retain their own employees at a better
scale.... At least they can prevent the brain drain and loss of talented people... ( or
perhaps the companies also want some different ppl after
sometime ? This way they too need not fire anyone.. they go their own way.. )

It seems that IT majors now are in a frenzy to recruit the
best talent around that they give incentives to attract and pull in experienced
people from contemporary companies... you see hiring sprees in
Infosys, Wipro, TCS... even Syntel is hiring like crazy with so many
walk-ins in the past few weeks.

Interestingly, caliber and capability no longer matter it
seems... you are just supposed to have the proper names on your resume..
(names of big colleges) and sufficient years of exp to show.. that is it..
you are in. For a little senior position... interviews are a
joke... one is usually asked some general personal stuff and directly
come to salary negotiation... like "We can offer you so much... are you
willing to take the offer" !!

Note that you don't have to be a technical genius to be
recruited into any of these top companies... with the amount of work (and most
importantly *kind of work*) being outsourced to third world countries
like India... mostly testing / support / bug fixing.. anyone with a few
yrs of exp to show... and who can type (and talk) is in.

Good for the employees... one might say.. it is easy to
thrive under such market conditions.. As the saying goes.. "Make hay while the
sun shines"

When I entered my first job in software.. I was advised by
my seniors that frequent switching is not advisable... and you should stick
around in a company and stay loyal if you wished to learn and
progress... but if you
look at the career graphs and salary scale of people who switch
regularly... you see that they have progressed so much over
a very short time that it is impossible to grow so much staying with one
organization...

But what is the main reason why people switch ? Is it career
growth ? Or job satisfaction ? Or money ? Or all of these ?

Maybe perhaps it is just need for a change.. with
frustration levels running high taken the kind of work done in software
industry... ppl need a break occasionally. And a change of environment helps...

On a side note, I wonder how long this phase would last...
there was a time during the software boom.. that anyone who knew just to
type on the computer were being hired in US.. all and sundry were
suddenly in the IT industry and were landing in US earning big bucks... once the bubble
burst... all was gone.. the dream American IT job had vanished...
everything is being outsourced now to cheap labor houses...
> third world countries like India and China.. It would only be a matter
of time before it moved on to other countries in the south east...

Microsoft has now outsourced testing of most of its old OS
versions to India...they are not supporting anything older than XP now
here.. I guess Wipro / Infy have landed the contract for Win SE testing.. a
huge multi million dollar project... for testing / bug fixing legacy OS
components...
I see that many new vendors from Wipro / Infy (maybe about 80 people)
have landed here in the past few weeks for knowledge transfer and
carrying the testing work back to India... no wonder they are hiring like
anything..

Having mentioned this, the job scene in India is booming
right now and is expected to stay that way for the coming few years at
least.. ideal time to make a pile and plan for an early retirement..

But what surprises me in all this is that people usually switch just
companies... they end up doing the same job in another
place... albeit for a bigger sum.. and so the frustration never really goes...
and hence the need for another switch after a year... not everyone switch
to a *proper job* and that's why they keep going in circles switching
from company to
company.. also the money helps.. but imagine doing the same stupid
testing for twice the pay... would it help ? is it really
satisfactory ? maybe like someone said... if you are doing something stupid..
might as well do it for a bigger sum..

This is where I feel a job culture like Microsoft is missing
in India.. here there are ppl who are developers even after 20 yrs
exp... bcoz they enjoy their work.. and they are paid handsomely... here
salary is not based on seniority but on proficiency and experience...
people can choose what they like and want to work as... some want to go into
management while others prefer technical positions... compensation is based on
ratings and work profile created according to the person's
choice.. there are lot of cases here where experienced developers are paid
more than their managers..

Amidst all the outsourcing and body shopping.. we have missed out
building India into a software product development centre..
rather it is now like
a cheap labour shop.. I read in an article that India is
known as the "back
office of the world". I don't know whether to be proud or ashamed of
this tag. When Bill started Microsoft.. they were a few tens
of ppl... we at MBT are around 4000 and all are capable and well qualified
and what sort of work do we mostly do... testing / product support / maintenance...
that is stopping us from building some product and selling
it to the world ?
And why on earth do we sell our work-force as contract workers to
multinationals ?

Rather than switching from company to company in search of the ideal
job... or the best package.. me thinks it is better to go
down south to Kerala and get a nice water-front house... settle down
peacefully with family... purchase some fields and do some farming... now
that would the ideal job switch....

Ready to Watch

If people are shameless to strip...why feeling ashame to watch it. We are ready to watch. If shruti can strip every Tom, XXXX and Harry can watch it tooo. Let it be isha, bipasha, neha, shruti,.....we give our anonymous support in watching those...after all we don't discourage women in this world. We give just not 33% but 100% reservation in these case.

After a prolonged cry on rights for women, here we see the same getting misused by various segments of women. A women accusing a director of rape for not giving chance in film, mahima creating noises on leander paes on broken relation ship, Nafisa commiting the biggest mistake for the strained relation ship. All this are evidence that women are yet to handle their rights properly...they are still not able to handle their fame, popularity and rights in a right way.

I got a SMS saying that " Pav Bhaji without onion is called Jain Pav bhaji, VadaPav without onion is called Jain VadaPAV, women raped 16 times in 5 year is called Jain Rape"...well all mumbaikars will laugh reading this...well this is about a young model preeti jain filing a case against a director mahu bhandar for raping her 16 times in 5 years on couching for film chance.... where are these modern world women...they are completely lost in their world...so its time for men to Watch and Watch out.

beware of women they make accidents and kill themselves and kill others on their way tooooo...atlast call it you killed them

Ready to Strip

The headline alarmed me -"Shruti ready to strip for success" .The reason given by the former miss india is this.....

"Every actress will tell you that she is willing to expose within certain limits. And so will I. I am ready to do an item number since I realise that a number of girls have used it as a stepping-stone to stardom."

Pity these girls. Fame, stardom, money calls for anything to sacrifice, be it your respect, body or soul. Mumbai is all enough for us to kill a generation of youth from what is so called "Indian culture". I am not against nudity in films or for that matter any sexual detailing. Unfortunately, as i posted sometime before, in India, we are not looking at issues (Girlfriend is a great example of how bollywood handled "lesbian" issue ....street smart director, with 2 girls, out of 16 reels, he has shown flesh alone for 15.75 reels and the balance goes for the titling for the movie) surrounded by sexual inhibitions. We are tantalising the youth for cheap taste.

so it is very clear for today's would-be models & miss india, tamilnadu, chennai, korukkupettai, 3rdstreet etc.. at any cost, they want to make money. Good for the country's youth which already is in a deep cultural clash.

Dont worry, i heard a hindi film producer, is arguing for a top-less scene in his movie. Soon, we also will have our own top-less models & full nudity. Till such time, watch item nos.

Do We really bank our money on banks - Part II

In continuation with the previous post, this post digs into the details of why GTB crashed.

GTB's founder Mr.Gilli has close connection with Ketan Parakh & former Andhra CM Naidu. GTB was in the brick of controversy in late 2000 itself and RBI also knew about that. Since Vajpayee was in the power and the NDA required Naidu's support, RBI's hands were tied up to take bigger action against GTB.

In the meanwhile, GTB was approached by many private funding agencies to restructure their loans and it finally zeroed down to NewBridge Capital. GTB even put up proposal outlining the funding expectations & requirements of NewBridge capital. RBI was not convinced about the expectations of NewBridge Capital for taking over the bank.

Act 2. Post elections, NDA lost the govt, so is Naidu. RBI has circulated the take over of GTB to many nationalised banks. In the meanwhile, the deadly ATMs closure & branch closure happened. To put a full stop for GTB's hanging fortunes, RBI asked the CEO/MD of Oriental Bank of Commerce to fly to mumbai by July 24th to brief him about the deal.

With controverisies involved and not-known-behind-the-scenes-board-wars, RBI finally announced the takeover of GTB by OCB on monday July 26th.

This shows how vulnerable our private banking system, even with RBI when they have a political say.

I remember our own famous villain, Veerappa (yester year Villain of MGR & Sivaji period) uttering a famous dialogue in one of his movies.....

" intha naadum, intha maKKalum nasamaI pogaTTum"
