From a former British land to a French Colony

mmm.... The story begins here.....a story till untold & only can be experienced and cannot be read. I am trying to put a world of experience in words. I know it's a herculian task to do such thing, but let me try to do that once again. [ Neeyum Pidivathamum rettai piravingala!!]

3.05 PM Saturday - Start with a Shock

The comedy before that is that, I dont have a chappal to wear, so i was wearing a rubber slip, thinking that i will buy a chap. in alsa mall in offer. When i landed in alsa mall [ When our bus conductors will change their habit of giving rupee notes, with their salaiva intact, -- nalla vellai, i got coins!!] the first shock came in.

HDFC ATM was not working.. All i had is 15 rupees and 75 paise. I have got money in my account but unable to take it off, coz, ATM is not functioning. Now, my first requirement is to buy a chap. to wear. So I was searching for a shop inside alsamall, which can accept my Debit Cards as i have a Visa Electron Debit card. Vaazhga antha sales rep. who induced me to take debit card than a ATM card alone. Without a Debit Card, it was like going nowhere.[ I dont know the logic behind this, after all as a debit card holder, i am already having money in my bank. I am trying to use my card instead of cash.] Finally i found a store which can accept Visa Electron and selected a model to wear.

Bang.!! Shock No.2, after wearing and giving the Card, the machine was not functioning. I for once thought, this trip is going to be a nightmare [and fortunately it is Not!!]. The next door neighbour who sells lipstic came in for rescue for using his machine for swaping. Ushhhhhhh... i wore my chappals with comfort now after damaging Rs.350 and still i dint see saravanan in my eyesight.

3.25 PM Saturday - Water Bottle & Non Alcholic Beer
I sent an SMS and waited for a reply. Vazhakkam pola, No Reply. I called up his mobile after many rings, Herbert picks up the phone and said, they were near Sangam Theatre. Finally he is in. It all started at 3.35, when i was reading the 32nd page of "Existentialism & Fancy Banian", with saras parking the car opp. to Alsa Mall. Officially we have started the trip.

We have started to Pondicherry -- Part 1 is over.

Sparkeled a Few Glasses, Girls & Glass boardrooms

It's been an eventful weekend for us. We [ Myself, Saras & Balaji] were with "Piarates of the Carribean" yeseterday. But the events happened only before that day, that's on Saturday. [ The above text are also proxy for Saras, since he wont write 2much about the weekend!! The following text is my own weekend!!]

I was invited [grrr...free food & champaigne] for Information Technology Professional Forum [ITPF]'s chennai chapter. Well it may not equal to the ranks of NASSCOM, CII and FICCI but it is a worth meeting to know few people.

Writer Sujatha, with his flawless proven speech, trying to instill [ Digital Signal Processing & OCR programming] to me, but as you know, i am genetically not made for a programming career, i was waiting for the Q & A session and most importantly to the dinner, so i can meet people & start selling my ideas & biz [grrr....the soup sutha waste.....MTR la oru soup powder varum,...athu powder nu sollarathu thappu, athu rasam, tomoto rasam!! .....] Had a few exchange of cards, but my fone was kept ringing for sometime, because, just bang outside at Sevara, Charu & others were with Sparks & Bamboo Bar [ 3 Drought Beer + 2 Tequila + 4 Plates Ginger, Garlic, Chilli Chicken and loads of talk about International Literature, Cinema, Jothika, Kayathri Raguram].

One news about Sparks, the girls I see, where they live in Chennai for the week days from Monday to Friday. I have been roaming the city from every corners, but couldn't find the girls i see over there anywhere. That reminds me of one half-struck attempt by Gnana to learn Guitar, che che...v lost one John Lennon unfortunately :-)

So I gotta cut off my stuff over @ Ramada INN an joined the Sevara team. We were there till 11.45 PM and then started off to another place [ Charu, oru Megaaaa Drinker] and voila!! we landed up in a deserted place in KK Nagar. the room has 5 people incl. myself & charu and three others, 2 Documentary film makers, 1 Siru pathirikai ezhuthallar [Whos' a siru pathirikai ezhuthallar...contact Aravind for a detailed description :-)] and the talk
extended till 12.45 and then I left and Charu & others have continued their drinking spree. If i can work on a documentary with limited budget, more than extra terristerial attmepts, i love to translate the life of Siru pathirikai, assistent directors and the start background of the Cinema, Literature and motion. Interesting subject to deal with. [ Director special kasakkuma...any idea saras, herbi!!]

That's how the weekend went and looking more celebratingly for the next week end.

Drive-in theatre & Pondy Trip

It's been an eventful weekend for us. After a initial trouble with his body, Saras is back and after a bit of silence [project pressure !!] Herbi is also back. Suddenly, we planned for a trip thru' the ECR we shifted the gears and changed the plan to watch "Boyz" at Prardhana Drive-in. Seems like a nice place. Reminds of the places in US where people scream, fuck, kiss and still watch a movie. Movie is not bad, but the car and the girl who lie on the ground next to us seems good. Think they are somehow related to Siddharth [Munna in Boyz], they were burst with cheers & laugh, when munna sees onscreen.

Btw, we bought too many snacks, and Lays's looks good for a single round, but not def. fit for 3 -4 th round, too much then it goes for "thigatifying" [how do u say that in english!!] the traffic was not so heavy. I thought it will since it's a weekend and a Friday. On coming back, I have choosen, the newly opened "Virudunagar Ayynar Chettinad"at TTK road. Wow, the food is quite delicious. I have taken fish for the first time. Not bad. But when went for a shit in the morning [today] it smells a bit bad. Any fish without smell [advise me]

btw the bigger & better announcement. WE ARE OFF TO PONDY THIS MONTH'S 4TH SATURDAY. MYSELF, HERBI, SARAS IS CONFIRMED. DO CONFIRM ARAVIND & BALAJI Sorry no seats for Gnanavel. Better luck next time.

Iyengar paper & international search

Spare a thought, if people who do a lot of music videos are called VJs, and ICICI makes customer service executives as CJs why not we call ourselves as also Virtual Jockies, as we predominently network and provide information available online.

back to the topic, as Google strongly strengthening its place in search & search tools, now i have a chance to look into few more search engines which are worth using than Google, as more & more google is becoming commercial & the quality of the search queries & relevancy seems to be dipping. here are my favourite 3 search engines, may be you can have a look.

All the Web - The 2nd largest online indexing site powered by Fast. worth reading.

Teoma again from Fast, but have a beautiful feature called releavacy searching.

Vivisimo - This one differs the web searching by providing, clustering of the documents, which is related to the search query. worth looking & using, since most of the search engines dont' have this clustering-based classification.

Finally, like everyday, I was trying to pull somebody to sponsor my evening snacks. Yesterday, It was a turn for Mr.Mari, of Sterling Infotech, nalla manushan. Went to Komalas, and gifted him a bill of Rs.160/- Worth eating. Anybody for 2day's evening?

The Hindu & concern for the people The hindu is celebrating their 125th anniversary and read the above review in thinnai, why it is still a iyengar-ish magazine.

Feverish Search & Powerful alignments

Herbert after attempts, finally landed up a designer job with a software company in Nandanam called "Grace Soft". ethai paathu payanthannu theriyalai, Saravana is down with fever from last nite. had a chat in the morning, may be cholora ? :-)

and for the non starter, that *********** in my last blog is nothing but the famous Bhuvaneshwari's mobile no.

Wrong side of elements

It's been quite tortureous riding vehicle in chennai. After finishing a meeting @ Arena , i was on my way to Dishnet for a meeting [interrupted by 3 phone calls, with 2 asking me to take up credit cards & loans :-(] At the turning of the Gemini flyover, i could see a bunch of cyclists from the other end trying to cross the road crossly. The danger not only for the cyclist but for the people who respect signals and going by the rules. Some time back, Saravanan, was telling me about a scratch on his car, for parking on street. It takes a minimum 500 - 1000 rs. to paint or remove that scratch from your car. A cyclist after all spends 200 rs. to remove the bend but what about the consequences. Too bad to think about it. It is not that i dont have any empathy on Cyclist, but the way they behave and commute makes raiding a frightening experience.

Finally, i have got the review that "Boyz" is out follows the same old trap of much-hyped, low-performed "Baba". Is this because, both of them have 4 letters in their title [Cine sentiments :-(] Let's see, now what is the fate of the unnamed but surnamed "sandiyar"

Suite Habana - Magical Realism & boyz

When reading some of the tamil online zines, i have found this interesting article at thinnai about a Cuban movie called "suite habana". Seems the story is simple, but has a magical twist. It is very rare to see a tamil movie trying to work on things like these. We are still running with Run, Dool & Samy.

Sunday, i was talking to charu [for non starters, Charu Nivedita is one of the most controversial tamil writer, produced in last 15 years], he listed out the difference between the way we make the film and how the europeans makes the film. This led me to think about using magical realism as a art, except for Nassar [ Mugam" ], no one has ever tried such a form in Tamil. Still we are running behind, Boyz, who reads a porno magazine for a shag and the beauty here is that, we haven't had the opportunity of the Hero shagging before thousands of audience. When heroine, can show her naval, boobs and even back to Thousands, why not a hero Shag? May be who know, if Kamal or Vikram reads this, they will do and proclaim, that there movie is the "first shagging scene" in tamil cinema.

And btw, Myself & Saravanan got a Mobile No. of ************* for "matter"

Condoms, Receptions & Nostalgia

The TN Govt. announced that there will be free distribution of high quality, lubricated condoms from "Moods" in ration shops. Now, we have one more compelling reason to stop AIDS isn't so. I think it is bull shit. Out of 10 people who go to ration shop 8 are women everywhere. Do you foresee, that TN woman, is dare enough to buy condoms for their husbands [affairs, boyfriends, schoolboys incl. the oppo. house uncle] How many women in rural TN who prefers to buy such delicate things. for that matter, in spite of conitinued propaganda about use of Napkins by various companines, still the usage is very minor in the rural. So, we need to seriously doubt the efficiency of this approach. But one thing is sure that, like everything in the ration, this is also going to be black marketed or clustered. Sometime, down the line, maybe we can see, lot of baloons behind the ration shops.

Well this weekend is a busy weekend for myself & saravanan, karpagam's reception, and my friends marriage, Seena's brother's Betrothel and a whole lot of other things. On the betrothel of Seena's brother, we had a walk and saras went into a hypernation of his own memories about the area and a whole deal of women in our lives. Atleast, we had a good nite sleep, Nostalgia lives forever.

CattleFeed & Hindutva

Amma has given one more rule to us. No more sacrifice of cattlefeed & Chicken in the Temples. Nice to hear that, atleast, now we dont have to missout those chickens & beef. What this subtly tells us is that, Jaya is slowing moving towards the "Hindutva" shelter, as putting a law for the cattlefeed is indirectly objecting the lowercaste community's worship areas. This is infilteration of the human rights of a particular community. In a country where, even the minimalist minorities like Jews, Anglo-Indians, Anglo-saxons, Parsis have been given due respect with their religious activities, why not for the lowercaste people. Anyway, let's get ready to taste human blood for a change, as we know, the law stops sacrifices only for cattlefeeds and not humans. Aruval is sharper than Constitutional amendment!!!

New Media, Jobs & Opportunities

Somehow, i am fortunate to have the guidance of the industry vetrans in the areas of Advertising & software. Started thinking, how many people have been deceived simply by projecting mere software courses as a career options. In a recent article about Mindtree, I heard, gone where the days, Software & IT companies takes people only with software knowledge. In today's Scneario & competition, more than the s/w knowledge, you require managerial & admin. knowledge to handle projects.

Prakash Sir is back with Arena Multimedia. Senthil is finally wed-locked on Jan. Betrothal on Sunday [I am loosing one more member in my Anti-Marriage Campaign] and a flip side of the news is that, I may be sitting on the story & dialogue discussion for the next Selva Raghavan ["Thulluvatho Illamai", Kadhal Konden" director] movie starring Ajith.

Monday, September 01, 2003

yesterday, Myself & Saravanan is with the chambers to be a part of the ongoing Japanese Film Festival. [Hello, dont murmur, vellai kidayatha ungalukkunu, athu than therinja vishayam achai]. I have one more time seen "Mirch Masala" an 1986 award movie with nasuredeen shah, smita patel [mmch...doesn't she look typical, dusky indian lady. we lost her in cancer anyway :-( ] and a few others. Nice movie about a pre independence, illiterate rajansthani, village, where a woman fights for her self-respect.

OOOsh....well whatever, the villain wanted to attain on a heroin or intended to do, the hero does for 6 songs and countless scenes. The typical Indian hero is a psudo creature, [have u seen Bollywood Calling..anybody]. May be the week has started. and everybody is busy except Saravanan. let's look forward this week.
